Admissions Information Sessions & Workshops

Below you’ll find information about Foster School information sessions, application workshops, and Writing Skills Assessment workshops.

Freshman Direct Information Sessions

High school students interested in studying business at the University of Washington Foster School (who have not yet been admitted and/or committed) of Business are encouraged to attend one of our undergraduate information sessions to learn more about admissions, academic requirements, career options, and scholarships opportunities. We host sessions most Fridays of the year in tandem with UW Admissions’ information sessions.

Register at the UW Admission’s Campus tour + freshman information session page. Find available “Foster School of Business” sessions on the calendar.

General (Standard Admission) Information Sessions

A counselor will present a 30-minute group session on standard admission and then be available for questions. This session covers all aspects of the undergraduate program in the Foster School, primarily focusing on admission to the program and the various specializations within the degree.

Prospective transfer students are encouraged to attend this session as part of UW’s Transfer Thursdays. If you wish to participate in the full Transfer Thursday, report to the Husky Union Building (Room 106) first for a 1:30-2:15pm general admissions presentation.

Note: Not intended for students ready to apply. Scheduled appointments with an adviser are preferred.

Information Session Dates Time Check-In Location
Thursdays* 2:30-3:15 pm Dempsey Hall, Room 202

Writing Skills Assessment (WSA) Workshops

Online and in-person Writing Skills Assessment (WSA) workshops are available.

Our online workshop steps you through the process of assessing your own writing and shows how the scoring guide works.

The OWRC offers a WSA preparation workshop. No advanced registration is required; however, the lecture-style room only seats 100 people, so only the first 100 students to arrive will be admitted to each day’s workshop.

Material covered in the workshop will include: some basic test logistics, descriptions of the two types of writing tasks, a chance to offer your initial response to one persuasion task, overview of the official scoring criteria, a chance to review scored sample essays, and a discussion of best practices and test-taking strategies in this context. Dates for fall workshops will be available soon.
