Evening MBA Graduation

This page contains information about graduation for the 2019-2020 academic year. It is updated throughout the year as more details about the graduation ceremony become available.

Please refer to the Student Handbook for your class for degree requirements and general information on applying for graduation.

Graduation Survey

If you are planning on participating in the Foster School of Business virtual graduation ceremony on June 13th, then you are required to fill out the Graduation Survey. It is open now and must be completed by April 15th so that we can assess ticket distribution and attendance. If you do not fill out the survey, you will not be allotted any tickets.

Graduation Application

The online graduation application is available on the first day of each quarter. Please apply by the deadline posted on the main page of the application portal for the quarter you wish to graduate. Students must apply for graduation in order to graduate.

  • Students must be enrolled in classes during the quarter they plan to graduate.
  • On the graduate application form, specify “non-thesis” in response to the question about a “thesis” or “non-thesis” program.
  • The online graduation application provides an automatic degree audit of your transcript in regard to the UW Graduate School requirements for graduation.
  • Once you apply for graduation, the MBA Program Office conducts an MBA degree audit, after which you will receive an email that details specific classes and requirements that you must complete in order to graduate with an MBA degree.

Graduation Ceremonies

You have the opportunity to participate in two graduation ceremonies:

  1. The Foster School of Business Graduation Celebration for Full-time MBA and Evening MBA students is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, June 13, 2020, using our virtual format through MarchingOrder. There will be a toasting ceremony hosted by Alumni Advancement starting at 4:30pm, and the virtual ceremony will begin at 5:30pm and run for about an hour.
    • Students were required to register and submit their information to MarchingOrder by May 24th in order to be included with a name pronunciation, quote, picture, and slide within the virtual presentation.
  2. The UW Graduation Ceremony will be held the afternoon of Saturday, June 13, 2020 virtually using the MarchingOrder platform. Refer to the UW Commencement website for details on participating in that celebration.

Academic Attire

You will not be required to wear academic attire during the virtual ceremony, but you are welcome to purchase these materials to commemorate your celebration: MBA gown, Master’s hood in UW colors with royal blue for Foster, cap, and a black tassel. You may either purchase your attire via the University website or from a Foster Alumni. If you elect to obtain your attire through an alum, please notify Jenny Forbes in the MBA Program Office.

Graduation Tickets

Since the graduation ceremony will be taking place online, there is no need to distribute tickets. The MBA Program Office will distribute the link for the ceremony at least 3 days before the event is schedule to take place.

2020 MBA Graduate Keynote Speaker

Details in regards to the graduation speaker will be updated closer to the ceremony date.

Diplomas

Three or four months after you graduate your diploma will be sent to the permanent address on record in MyUW at the time of graduation. The name on the diploma will appear as it does on the MyUW Web site. To change your address or the spelling/appearance of your name on your diploma, refer to the information on the UW Registrar’s website. Should you need proof of graduation before your diploma is ready, a letter confirming your degree can be provided by the MBA Program Office once grades are posted.
