Department of Finance and Business Economics

The Finance and Business Economics Department at the University of Washington Foster School of Business is a collegial group of thought leaders based in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. Our faculty actively engage with business leaders and students to develop and share new insights that span the areas of Asset Pricing and Investments, Corporate Finance and Governance, Fintech, Household and Behavioral Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions, Small and Minority Business Economics, and Machine Learning applications in finance.

The Finance and Business Economics and Middle East Language and Cultures departments are pleased to offer a new special topics course named “The Startup Nation: Understanding Israel’s Exceptional Innovation.

The course (B Econ 490 A: sln: 23421 / MELC 496 B: sln: 18837) will examine the history and cultural aspects of the country’s unique economic development, focusing on the lessons learned from Israel’s success and innovation, and how those lessons learned might be extended to other nations in the region.
