Research Interests

Guided by my deep curiosity about the unique organizational contributions an employee can make by drawing from their individuality (i.e., their personalized constellation of identities, skills, experiences, traits, and other personal resources), I examine the management of individuality within organizations. Specifically, I explore (a) the individual-, leader-, and organization-based factors that inform individuals’ choices to express or conceal components of their individuality in the workplace and (b) the tension between the potential empowering benefits and hidden risks of expressing one’s individuality in service of organizational goals. Through my research, I aim to advance the theoretical and practical understanding of how organizations can foster environments where the unique individuality of each of their members helps propel organizational excellence.
