Curriculum and Faculty

The program curriculum is carefully reviewed and modified each year with the board to reflect market trends and to ensure that participants learn decision-making skills that are relevant to the changing global economy. The underlying learning objectives are to provide an evidence-based framework for strategic and critical thinking and round that out with sessions with industry experts who will provide context for how you can apply what you have learned.

Economic Outlook and Trends in the Global Market

Making Critical Decisions
This session explores the systems people use for processing information and making decisions. We will draw on cognitive psychology and behavioral economics to examine common biases that get in the way of effective decision-making. We will look at the common decision errors leaders make and how to avoid them. We will also investigate the natural problems that arise when people make decisions in groups. We will address three crucial ingredients for good group decision making and examine how to aggregate individual opinions into high quality decisions.

Elevate Your Power of Influence
Gain a better understanding of your personal communication style and the styles of others. Learn to adapt your approach to maximize effective communication with your customers and stakeholders to elevate your power of influence, especially in a global cross-cultural environment.

Growth Mindset
The focus of this session is on understanding the value of a growth mindset and learning how to cultivate it in ourselves and in our organizations. By harnessing the power of the growth mindset, we can transform both individual performance and large-scale organizational culture.

Effective Leadership
Focus on the critical leadership attributes, qualities, skills, and competencies needed to create and sustain organizational success. We will explore the dynamic leadership issues facing today’s financial institutions.

Fostering and Managing Diverse Teams
Research suggests that all employees thrive when their leaders emphasize multiculturalism and create inclusive workplace cultures. To facilitate a positive culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, organizational leaders and supervisors can systematically utilize decision-making tactics that will help build a culture that leads to overall success.

Aligning Business to Better Humanity
During this session, participants will explore how the organizations can positively impact customers and the community by strategically innovating existing products and services. Discussions will focus on leveraging organizational values to drive impactful change, knowing when and how to pivot effectively by drawing on your organizations strengths, and aligning innovations with core values to improve both business performance and better humanity.

How GenAI Is Rewiring the Banking Industry
The introduction and utilization of new technology is an essential market disruptor. As banks and financial institutions adapt, they must embrace technological advancements and explore ways to optimize GenAI.

Corporate Visits and Speakers

An interactive and rich learning experience

The online remote learning will consist of both synchronous live sessions as well as asynchronous sessions to allow participants in different time zones to prepare for class in their own time and pace. Whether you join all sessions in a live format or have a live discussion after reviewing recorded sessions, the format allows greater flexibility to accommodate different learning styles.

What makes the UW-GBP program unique is the balance and blend between academic content and industry perspectives. Faculty are carefully selected to reflect strong evidence-based research as well as relevant consulting and teaching experience. They are insightful, experienced, and dedicated to progressive thinking. Participants have called UW-GBP faculty thought-provoking, stimulating, and inspirational.

A key deliverable is the capstone project. The objectives of this project are to:
1. Address real-world challenges outside of the classroom sessions.
2. Provide time to apply what you learn in Module 1 throughout Module 2.
3. Continue to connect and engage with class, faculty, and industry leaders throughout Module 2.
4. Receive valuable feedback from experienced board members on issues surrounding the financial institutions.

All sessions will be in English and participants are required to have completed all pre-reading materials and assignment questions prior to joining each live online class or Q&A session.
