The IES Abroad Nice: Foster Partner Program is now accepting applications for Winter Quarter 2027. Apply by May 15th.
Program Details
The IES Abroad Nice Program is a partnership between the UW Foster School of Business and the highly regarded study abroad provider IES Abroad. This Foster Partner Program has been designed to offer business credit with an emphasis on international business.
The 15-20 Foster School students will choose 3-4 courses out of 6 offered, all taught by IES Abroad Faculty. Students will live in shared residence apartments (twin) a walk or bus ride away from where classes are held. In addition to earning UW credit abroad, the program also includes company and cultural visits in southern France all included in the program cost!
Program Highlights
- Take 3-4 business classes at the IES Abroad Nice Center located in the heart of Nice.
- Travel with the cohort on a day trip excursion in the French Riviera region
- Attend a company visit to Sophia Antipolis, a tech park and startup hub in southeast France.
- Live in shared apartments with other students on the program. Typically, this will be a 1-bedroom aparthotel that will be shared by 2 students. This includes one bedroom with two twin beds, a kitchenette, and an ensuite bathroom.
- Enjoy cultural activities and excursions hosted by IES Nice Center
Eligibility
- The program is open to UW Business majors only
- There are no language pre-requisites for the program. All courses are taught in English. Completion of ECON 200 is a prerequisite for many of the business courses
- There is a minimum GPA requirement of 2.75 at time of application.
Course Offerings
During Winter Quarter, students will take courses at the IES Abroad Nice Center located in the heart of the city. All courses are taught in English by IES Abroad faculty, many of whom will be from local universities.
Students take 3 or 4 of the 5 classes offered below. The price is the same regardless of how many courses a student completes.
- MGMT 320: (IES IB/MG 329) Business Ethics (4 UW credits)*
- IBUS 300: (IES IB 300) Global Business Perspectives (4 UW credits)*
- MKTG 301: (IES MK 300) Marketing Concepts (4 UW credits)*
- MKTG elective: (IES MK 315) Introduction to Global Marketing (4 UW credits)
- AH/LT 358 Reading the City: Literature & Art in Nice (4-5 UW credits – A&H – UW Equivalent approval reviewed after the program)
* ECON 200 prerequisite;
All Courses have minimum enrollment caps to be offered.
Program Cost
The total IES Abroad Nice Winter Quarter cost is $11,550 . This covers the cost of the credits, fees, housing, insurance, and program activities (company visits and cultural visits).
- $10,485 is due to IES Abroad
- $915 is due to UW by the Winter Quarter tuition deadline (UW & Foster Study Abroad Fees)
- $150 Study Abroad Insurance Fee will also be charged to your UWSA if you choose not to waive the UW plan for the IES Abroad insurance.
Foster Study Abroad Fee
Each Foster Study Abroad Program will include the following fees: Foster Study Abroad Fee ($390) and UW Study Abroad Fee ($525).
The Foster Study Abroad fee is an Administrative Fee that funds all Foster Study Abroad activities, including organizing the programs, recruiting participants, organizing pre-departure and post-return events, and for providing study abroad advising for students. This fee is charged to all students participating on a Foster Study Abroad Program regardless of major.
