Wellbeing at Foster

Wellbeing
at Foster

At Foster we believe in supporting the wellbeing of all members of our community, acknowledging the joys and the challenges in our lives. To support this effort, we provide resources to current students, staff and faculty for campus and community support.

Students who are not enrolled in a Foster Program, or Foster students who prefer this option, can meet with a UWCC counselor from the central counseling center with specific identity preference, expertise, or approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. I offer students a safe and confidential place to talk. As a mental health practitioner, I follow HIPAA’s rules of confidentiality. I will not share whether you use my services or not. I will not share anything about our conversations with anyone else except in instances of physical harm to yourself or someone else. You can read the full UW Counseling Center Informed Consent Policy here.
It’s free! If you choose to meet with me for a 1-hour individual session, the UW Counseling Center will bill your insurance. However, all copays or non-covered services are paid for by the Student Services and Activities Fee. If you don’t have insurance or prefer not to bill it, services are still free!
During our first meeting, you can expect us to get to know each other a little bit and then talk about what’s going on for you, how it’s making you feel and what might make things a little better. I encourage you to ask questions about me and about the counseling process.
Absolutely! Many students find their issue is resolved after talking to a counselor one time. Let’s Talk is not formal counseling, so drop-in whenever works for you.
