Academic Departments

The UW Foster School of Business academic departments provide in-depth, actionable instruction in five of the most relevant and in-demand areas of business. Classes are taught by faculty who are thought-leaders in their fields, prolific researchers, and most importantly, committed to the success of their students. Departments span across all of Foster’s programs, from undergraduate to the PhD level.

Accounting

Accounting is the backbone of business, encompassing record-keeping, reporting, compliance and taxation, budgeting and internal controls. The Foster accounting faculty train students in all of these areas, as well as providing an ethical framework and context to the language of business. The Finance and Business Economics Department is a collegial group of thought leaders providing instructions on fundamentals through advanced concepts for today’s economy. Our faculty engage with business leaders and students to develop new insights spanning asset pricing, corporate finance and governance, fintech, behavioral finance, mergers & acquisitions, small and minority business economics, and machine learning applications.
