Second-year Peer Advisors

Second-year students are selected to assist fellow first-year full-time MBA students with career related matters. These matters range from assistance with resumes and interviewing, to helping fellow students connect with employers.

Second-year Peer Advisors

  • Provide career advising on career paths, companies, and positions.
  • Review resumes, critiquing the content and offering suggestions for improvement.
  • Conduct practice interviews (also referred to as “mock interviews”) and provide interview preparation guidance.
  • Provide guidance and/or be resource to participants in MBA Career Management sponsored workshops.

Peer Advisors 2016-2017

Gino AlbertoM. Gino Alberto (alberto1@uw.edu)
Gino has always been passionate about technology’s potential to empower people. During undergrad at Elon University Gino interned at drugstore.com – a pioneer in ecommerce. After graduation, he moved to Seattle and joined Zillow where he helped create an online home related marketplace and redefined an industry. At Zillow, Gino managed teams in advertising operations and client experience.

Over summer 2016, Gino interned with T-Mobile, the Uncarrier, disrupting the telecom industry. As a Loyalty Marketing Manager Intern, he liaised with marketing and data sciences to create and run campaigns using machine learning and artificial intelligence. Gino thrives at the intersection of creative and analytical where he advocates for customers through data driven storytelling.

PriyankaPriyanka Balasubramamian (priyab1@uw.edu)
Priyanka grew up in Mumbai and Chennai, India. She is a Chartered Accountant and is a business undergraduate. She worked at PwC, India for over seven years and assumed several positions as she
grew up the ladder. She moved to Seattle to pursue her MBA at Foster. In addition to her role as Peer Advisor, Priyanka is the EVP Finance Society and VP Consulting Club.

At Foster, Priyanka interviewed with consulting firms and technology companies. She would be interned at Amazon this summer as a Senior Financial Analyst. She also interviewed for BCG, PwC, Microsoft, and the Gates Foundation.

Priyanka can provide guidance on tailoring resumes, case and behavioral interviewing, and strategies for networking. She is looking forward to using her interview experience to help first-year students prepare for their internship interviews. She can also provide guidance to international students on general networking norms and informational interviews.

Deepanjan DeyDeepanjan Dey (ddey2017@uw.edu)
Deepanjan “D-Dey” Dey was born and raised in India. He is a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology. Prior to Foster, D-Dey was a technical writer and multimedia content developer for Oracle Corporation. He also co-founded and ran a theatre company, acting in and directing over 100 shows. In addition to being a Peer Advisor, D-Dey is VP of Foster Tech, Foster Marketing Association, and Foster Creative.

D-Dey interned at Google (San Francisco) over the summer, working on Sales Strategy and Operations for Google Cloud Platform. He interviewed with Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, and Warner Bros before accepting the Google offer.

D-Dey can provide guidance on how to bring creativity into the job application process. Having been a professional and creative writer, he can help craft effective resumes and cover letters. Leveraging his own interview experience, he can also guide first year students on how to navigate case and behavioral interviews, particularly for tech companies. In addition, D-Dey can assist international students with common challenges that accompany the job application process here in the US.

Lydia IslanLydia Islan (islanl@uw.edu)
Lydia’s work in healthcare administration in NYC and Seattle has bolstered her customer service and problem solving abilities. At Foster, Lydia has focused on rounding out her business skills, especially in finance and accounting. In the summer between 1st and 2nd years, Lydia interned with BCG as a Strategy Consultant. Outside of Peer Advisors, Lydia is on the executive council of the MBAA as EVP of Finance and is on the board of the Strategy Club, the Healthcare and Biotechnology Club, and the Consulting Society. In her free time, Lydia enjoys reading, skiing, and playing ultimate.

Caitlin McElwrathCaitlin McElwrath(caitmcel@uw.edu)
Caitlin grew up in Charlotte, NC and got her BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate in Engineering Design from Northwestern University. Her first job out of school was at Eaton Corporation in Los Angeles as a Product Engineer working on manufacturing electrical power distribution equipment. She then moved on to a Project Engineer role at Eaton in Seattle focusing on managing equipment for the data center segment. She decided to go back to school in order to incorporate her creative, detailed, problem solving skills from her engineering background into the business sector in order to deliver sustainable, superior solutions and products. She spent her summer as a Senior Associate Intern at PwC within their management consulting business for technology clients.

In addition to PwC, Caitlin has experience interviewing at Microsoft, Amazon, BCG, Point B, Facebook, and Apple. As a Peer Advisor she is looking forward to helping with resumes, cover letters, interview prep and mock interviews for all students looking to get the most out of their internship and specifically those looking to make a career change into a new industry.

Gordon PepeGordon Pepe (gpepe@uw.edu )
Gordon’s professional experience has primarily focused on retail and ecommerce. Prior to Foster, he worked at Amazon where he managed the P&L for several strategic brands in the Sporting Goods
category. Before Amazon, Gordon managed inventory and supply chain for Quidsi, an ecommerce startup. Gordon interned at Nordstrom over summer 2016.

Ting TsengTing Tseng (tingt5@uw.edu)
Prior to joining Foster, Ting worked as a senior account manager for IBM, where she analyzed clients’ competitive positions and opportunities in market; developed marketing strategy for new products; engaged in consultative solution selling. She also has experience in channel business management. At Foster, Ting focuses on marketing and analytics. She was invited to interview with Amazon, T-Mobile, Philips, and multiple tech startups. During the summer Ting interned as a Marketing Manager at NanoString, switching both function and industry. Ting can provide guidance on job searching strategy, effective networking, interview pipeline expansion, as well as cover letter and mock interview. She is excited to share her rich interview experiences and help first-year students who want to change career paths!
