Once you have accepted your offer of admission, you are encouraged to jump start your career preparation. You can begin by accessing MBA Career Management via the Summer Online ProDev Course on Canvas. Look for an announcement in late spring about when the course will become available. Additionally, in early summer, you will hear from a career counselor and you can start updating your resume, setting up informational interviews, and more, all under the guidance of MBA Career Management.

MBA Career Management Services

You are assigned a career coach for your first and second year. However, you are welcome to meet and stick to whichever coach you feel more connected to. Your coach will work with you to strengthen your skill sets, clarify your career goals, and reach out to employers. From resume and cover letter advice to multiple mock interviews, your career coach will help you evaluate your interests and experience, clarify your career goals and develop a personalized strategy for success.
Company Information Sessions are held several times a week during the lunch hour and sometimes in the evening. These sessions are an opportunity to connect with representatives from a variety of organizations large and small, to learn about their internships and employment opportunities, and to network with alumni who have developed successful careers in those companies.
The MBA Career Management staff leads treks to visit companies in other states and to national career fairs that enable students to find opportunities beyond the many employers who recruit on campus. Students can network with Foster alumni at receptions sponsored by MBA Career Services in the Bay Area, Portland, and New York City, as well as in the Seattle area. Individualized out-of-state searches are also available with one of our Talent Acquisition Associate Directors.
The Mentor Program connects MBA students with senior executives in the Seattle business community. Students draw on their mentor’s depth of experience to explore a variety of business and career-related issues.

First-year students will also benefit from coaching, interview practice, and networking with second-year peer coaches who work in MBA Career Management. These students have valuable advice to give to first-year students in all aspects of their career development and can share information about internships, companies and other resources.
