Internships

Connect to new MBA career opportunities. Internships are an integral part of the Foster MBA experience. Typically a full-time, paid position during the summer between the first and second year that lasts 10 –12 weeks, an internship provides the essential link between theory and practice, between school and work, and above all, a chance for intensive professional growth.

Start preparing for an internship before your first class

Beginning in summer before your first MBA quarter, career coaches help you to clarify professional goals and prepare for internship recruiting, which begins as early as fall for select companies. You will fine-tune career strategies through industry research, connections to alumni and business contacts, and access to employers through networking events and on-campus recruiting. You will also receive professional guidance on your resume as well as your interviewing and networking skills.

Transform learning into action

Foster MBA students excel in internship environments thanks to the program’s focus on elements that really matter in the workplace: strategic thinking and analysis; effective collaboration and team leadership; cross-functional problem-solving and decision-making based on solid research. MBA students say the greatest rewards they gain from internships include:

  • Access to high-level business leaders and mentors
  • Insider experience learning an industry and company culture
  • Professional networking opportunities with colleagues and other MBAs
  • Knowledge gained from applying MBA frameworks and theories to real-world situations
  • Invaluable resume experience, a portfolio of accomplishments and references

Achieve real results

From Silicon Valley to Bangkok and Wall Street to Paris, Foster MBAs put learning into practice. Foster MBA interns have developed a worldwide business planning tool, created new financial reporting models, conducted market research, recommended corporate social responsibility strategies and executed national marketing campaigns. Students have also leveraged their internships into part-time and full-time positions. Up to 20 percent of students continue independent projects or part-time positions with their internship companies.
