Professional Sales Program Application Checklist

Please review this webpage for an overview of the Professional Sales Program’s online application.

Applicant Profile
To create your profile you will need to provide your full name, student ID number, current academic standing, email address, phone number, and your local and permanent addresses.

Education
In this section you are asked about your education history, the courses you have taken, your expected graduation date, your major, and your GPA. The Professional Sales Program will not admit any student with a cumulative GPA lower than 2.8, and S/NS courses are not accepted.

Employment History
Here you will provide information about your previous work experience including: company name, position, start and end dates, and a description of your duties and responsibilities. This is a great opportunity to list any sales-related positions you may have had. However, don’t feel discouraged if you don’t have any sales experience, or if you have limited work experience overall. This section is an opportunity for us to learn more about you, so if you’re a nanny, or you do volunteer work at a shelter, or you were a Dawg Daze leader, put it down.

Campus Activities and Awards
In this section you will be asked to list any campus activities you participate in, for example: Husky Sales Club or Alpha Kappa Psi member. You will be asked to list any honors or awards you have received as a university student.

Sales Practicum Choices
The culminating class for the Professional Sales Program is MKTG 496—a sales practicum. In this section of the application you will be asked to identify the industries that interest you the most so that we know which type of company to match you with for the practicum. Examples of B2B industries include, but are not limited to: financial services, media/entertainment, technology, consumer products, and distribution.

Letters of Recommendation
You will need two letters of recommendation to meet the requirements of this application. One of these letters must come from a professor.

Required and Supplemental Documents
This is the last component of the application where you will upload a number of additional files and documents, including:

  • A 2-3 minute video selling the viewer on why you should be accepted into the Professional Sales program, and why you are interested in sales as a career
  • A copy of your unofficial UW transcript
  • Your resume
  • A 200-300 word personal statement that answers the following questions, along with any other pertinent information:
    • What do you hope to gain from earning your Professional Sales Program Certificate?
    • What are your career goals in the next five years?
    • Why do you think we should select you for participation in the Professional Sales Program?
